Springfield's Bees!

The community garden on Laura Street now has a bee hive, in addition to 2 other hives we keep in the Springfield area.  The bees are doing very well.  They travel up to 5 miles in search of pollen - so if you are in the Springfield area and see bees in your flower garden, they maybe Sustainable Springfield's bees.  Our bees are not aggressive, unless provoked of course.

We intend to grow the number of hives in the urban core.

Bee Garden

This is the bee garden we planted through donations.  All of the plants are attractive to honey bees and bloom at different times of the year.  We have zinnias, sunflowers, powder puffs, oakleaf hydrangeas, turks caps, white crepe myrtle, and beauty berry.
